Time Warp!

Since my last post, I have "graduated" from work and we moved to the mountains! I have been quilting up a storm. I bought a longarm for my "graduation" gift to myself and during the pandemic took a Free-Motion quilting class. Love it!

I have also done some other crafty things. Picked up my watercolor brushes again and also learned Zentangle.

Maybe I'll even start blogging regularly! Off to QuiltCon next week in Atlanta!

Hmmm....here it is 2014 and I have already attended 8 Hen Weekends and 4 VCQ Celebrations since my last post in 2007! Guess I should do a bit of updating of this blog! I have been inspired by reading other blogs...so maybe, just maybe, I can start posting a bit.

I will collect some photos of projects I have been able to work on and plan to post sometime over the weekend.

Until then...Happy Stitching!

Quilt Weekend!

Well, well, well...my how time flies! Eeek, it's been almost 9 months since I have posted.... I hope to do a better job in 2007!

Tomorrow I am headed out for my annual "Hen Weekend" with my mother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. For probably about the last 10 years or so we have gotten together for the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in VA (used to be in Williamsburg, but now it is in Hampton). We have a wonderful time clucking and shopping and just being together. I will post again when I get back to report on our fun!

Oh My! It's almost been a month since I last posted! Life is just flying by!! And, today is my birthday! Made me think I should put another entry in my blog before any more of my life zooms on by.

VCQ Celebration was OUTSTANDING and we had a blast! My classes were wonderful. I had 3 of them...all hand work and all taught by Mary Sorensen (www.maryappliques.com). She is an outstanding teacher and I learned a lot from all 3 classes. I suppose I am officially a Mary Sorensen groupie now. I have even finished one of the projects that I hope to make into a pillow. (I will post photos soon.) The worst part about Celebration was coming home with a HORRIBLE cough. It's finally (almost) completely gone though. I was also exhausted and thus I think that was part of my problem with this blog...just didn't have time to get photos together to post...I will do better.

I went to the new Denver Quilt Show on May 6th (it's one of the Mancuso shows- www.quiltfest.com) and it was great! I really enjoyed seeing the quilts and of course doing some shopping as well. Didn't really spend as much time there as I could have...but the cough was still really annoying me (and probably everyone around me) so I made very efficient use of my time there. I am looking foward to next year!

Otherwise we have been working on our yard and trying to get it presentable again...a lot of work, but hopefully it will be worth it when we are done. We are cheating some and having the landscaper that originally "did" our yard come back and do some sprucing up. In fact, they should be there today (I suppose I can consider this a birthday gift to myself.) Now, we just need to maintain.

That's the latest from me...more later and hopefully with a few photos.

I am going to Quilt Camp! Thursday morning (EARLY) I fly to VA to attend VCQ Celebration. VCQ (Virginia Consortium of Quilters) is Virginia's statewide quilt guild of which I was a member when I lived there. It is a fantastic organization and I am thrilled I am getting to attend Celebration (again...the first time was in 2004). It's only held every other year. I never attended when I lived in VA and it was easy to get to... I had to wait until I was 1500 miles and a plane ticket away! As far as activities while I am there, I will be attending classes and lectures and meeting up with 8 friends...what could be better! For more about VCQ check out their web site www.vcq.org.

Anyway, amidst my scrambling to pack, I thought I would post 2 photos, the first is the fabric chosen for the block drawing and the second shows the blocks I made with a fat quarter of the fabric. I will now have 4 chances to win a set of blocks made by others at "camp."

Better get back to the suitcases...but here are the photos. I'll probably not have a chance to post again until I return on the 30th.

The 4 blocks (clockwise) are Variable Star, Single Irish Chain, Milky Way and Balkan Puzzle "Confused" (I oopsed when I put that one together...I think it actually has another name as is...but I can't seem to find it in any of my books. Anyone know?)

Isn't technology amazing!

I was finally able to add my photo to my blog! Miracles do happen! I tried it from home with no success because the photo file was too big. I finally succeeded by e-mailing the photo from home to work and was able to get the photo a small enough file size to let it post! Whew!

Now I will surely have to visit my blog more often and post more regularly...eeek it's been a month already since I created it and this is only my second post!

OK, I finally did it...I created a blog because I wanted to comment on a blog that didn't accept anonymous posts...so here we go!

Once I learn what I am doing I will begin making fairly regular posts.
